Vision of BAETEE
India’s luxury house of
hand-painted art.
BAETEE did not begin in a boardroom. It began in a garden—with two fathers watching their children place small hands in the soil and ask the most honest questions about flowers, growth and life.
Conceptualised by Malik Gilani and Aman Merchant, each painting carries something from those moments: the patience of waiting for a seed, the joy of the first bloom, the sadness of a fallen petal and a child’s belief that life can begin again. An anonymous BAETEE artist then gives that feeling a human pulse through colour, brush pressure and the beautiful differences no machine can repeat.
The name BAETEE echoes beti—the Hindi word for daughter. Behind that word are millions of individual lives: daughters who have been protected and daughters who have had to protect themselves; dreams encouraged, interrupted or never asked about. We will not make their pain a campaign. We want to help change what comes next.
Through the mission of Merchantise Holdings, BAETEE intends to turn creative skill into dignity, authorship, income and ownership. Our ambition is to place Indian hand-painted art at the heart of luxury fashion and build an enduring art asset class—but its true value will always begin with a human hand, a human story and an opportunity made real.
